Nutrition & ingredients

Are any ingredients in POW sourced from China?

No, we do not use any ingredients from China, all ingredients in POW are from the EU, except lamb which is from New Zealand. The ingredients are carefully checked and undergo 120 tests before going into production, this to ensure quality.

What are the origins of the ingredients and raw materials used in the POW?

All the ingredients in the POW are from the EU except for lamb meat, which comes from New Zealand.

What type of protein do you use in POW dog food?

We focus on high-quality animal proteins, but we prefer to call it 'taste' - because dogs love it! Our main sources of protein are pork, lamb and white fish, as they are both digestible and tasty for dogs.

What type of fat does the POW contain?

It contains pig fat and fish oil, all fat is refined i.e. free of proteins.

Why does the POW contain brown and white rice?

Rice is an easy-to-digest carbohydrate source that is kind to the stomach, and the mix of white and brown rice provides a more even blood sugar level that provides energy for a longer period of time.

What is naked oats good for?

Naked oats shed their husk when harvested, so the seed is naked and thus contains more energy than regular oats. Oats are also gluten-free, making them more palatable.

How is POW good for your dog's teeth?

POW promotes dental health through sodium hexametaphosphate, which reduces tartar formation, and a crunchy lining structure that helps to mechanically clean teeth. In addition, essential minerals such as calcium and phosphorus contribute to strong teeth and healthy gums.

Does the POW contain enough taurine?

Yes, taurine is naturally found in meat and POW is high in meat and therefore high in taurine.

Does POW contain any artificial additives or colorants?

No! We believe in natural and nutritious food without unnecessary additives. POW contains no artificial colorings, flavor enhancers, or preservatives.

How do I know my dog is getting enough nutrition from POW?

All our foods are carefully formulated to provide your dog with a balanced diet. We use natural ingredients such as pork, lamb or whitefish meat, omega fatty acids for a healthy coat, minerals for bones and joints, vitamins for the immune system and easily digestible carbohydrates for energy.

Are there Omega 3 and 6 in POW?

Yes, there are both Omega 3 & 6 in POW, the specific ratio of Omega 3 & 6 is to promote healthy skin and coat health, even for the sensitive individual.

Feeding & Use

If my dog is overweight, neutered or has a tendency to gain weight, what POW food should I feed him?

POW Light/Sterilized is our low-calorie food with less fat than the other varieties.

If I want to change my feed from another brand to POW, how do I go about it?

We suggest a 2-week transition, mixing the new and old feed as follows: days 1-4: 25% new and 75% old, days 5-9: 50% new and 50% old, days 10-14: 75% new and 25% old. On day 15: 100% of the new food. If the dog is sensitive, you can do an even longer adaptation where you have 4-5 days intervals but only change 10% of new and old food per step.

If I have a highly active dog with high energy needs, what food should I give?

POW Super Power is our high-energy food with the most energy.

Can I mix POW with fresh feed or wet feed?

Yes! POW works well both as a complete food and in combination with other foods. If you mix, make sure to adjust the amounts so that your dog gets a balanced diet.

I have a pregnant bitch that will have puppies, what food do you recommend?

POW Super Power is the feed we recommend for pregnant and lactating bitches. However, if the bitch needs to be fed smaller pellets, Puppy Small and Medium can be used.

How much POW should I give my dog per day?

The amount depends on your dog's weight, age and activity level. We have feeding recommendations on each pack and on our website to help you find the right amount.

How long should the puppy eat puppy food?

Small and medium breeds below 25 kg adult weight are estimated to have finished growing by 1 year of age (12 months). Large breeds between 25-40 kg adult weight are estimated to have finished growing by 1.5 years of age (18 months) and very large breeds over 40 kg adult weight are estimated to have finished growing by 2 years of age (24 months). Therefore, it is important that they are fed puppy food until they are estimated to have finished growing, to ensure that their bones are strong before adult food is introduced.

At what age can you start feeding puppies puppy food?

Puppies starting to eat solid food can be introduced to dry food as early as 3-4 weeks of age, but then soaked and in small tasting portions as they are still nursing. This is gradually increased as the pups start to eat more solid food and suckle less, to be completely weaned from the bitch and eating only solid food by 8 weeks of age.

About POW. POW belongs to a family business based in Sweden, headquarters and warehouse are located in Sweden.

What types of dogs is POW suitable for?

POW has food for all types of dogs! From the tiny puppy to the active adult dog or the senior bon vivant - we have customized recipes for every life stage, need and taste.

Why is your feed not produced in Sweden?

There is no factory in Sweden that can produce dog food with as much meat as POW requires, nor Swedish raw materials in the volume and quality we needed. To be able to offer the quality we want, with a high proportion of animal ingredients, we chose a specialized facility in the Netherlands. By producing in the Netherlands, we can ensure that POW maintains the high standard we want to give dogs - without compromising on nutrition or taste.

Why should I give my dog POW?

POW is a chicken-free dog food, single protein with pork, lamb or white fish and with lots of health benefits. Rice as a gentle carbohydrate source.

Where is POW dry food produced?

The factory where we have our POW dry food recipes produced is located in a state-of-the-art facility in the Netherlands.

POW is available from well-stocked pet shops, as well as several selected local online retailers.

What benefits and discounts do you offer to breeders?

Do you have a taste guarantee on your products?

Absolutely! If your pet, for any reason, doesn't like our food, you can return the package (with at least 75% of the food remaining) along with the purchase receipt. You'll receive a refund or can try something else.

Packaging & storage

How long does POW dry food last?

Best before is always stated on the packaging, but is 18 months after the date of manufacture.

What is the best way to store your feed?

The best way to store our dry food is in a dry and cool place, preferably in the original packaging that is sealed with a resealing mechanism or with an Easter clip. Then it is extra good if you can have the resealed bag in a barrel with a lid.

Can your packaging be recycled?

The dry food bags are made of a mixed material, so the bag should be disposed of in the household waste. The cans can be recycled and sorted as metal packaging.

How do you sort the bag or sack when you put it in the bin?

The bags are made of a mixed material, which means they should be disposed of as combustible waste or in normal household waste.

How does POW contribute to a more sustainable production of dog food?

Sustainability is an important part of POW - we produce our feed in a factory powered by at least 25% of our own wind power and we recycle water in production. In addition, we choose ingredients that are good for both dogs and the environment.
